The Hoosier A’s chapter of the North American MGA Register
(NAMGAR) was established November 14, 1978. The
Hoosier A’s is a non-profit informal organization dedicated to the
preservation and enjoyment of the MGA. Membership in NAMGAR is encouraged,
but not required. Current ownership of an MGA is not necessary,
nor do you have to be a resident of Indiana to join. Dues for
the Hoosier A’s are $15 from November 1 to October 31. Members joining
after August 1 are credited with membership for the following
year. A newsletter (The Indiana MG Register)is published
bi-monthly, with updates for event announcements.
From its beginning 25 years ago, the Hoosier A’s has continued
uninterrupted – and is still going strong today.
Over these years the organization has provided a home and activity
base for MGA lovers across Indiana, and even in surrounding states.
The basis of the club is good fellowship, car talk, driving, and
“breaking bread” together at unique and interesting restaurants all
across Indiana. During these years, the Hoosier A’s have hosted two
NAMGAR GT’s (national “Get Togethers”),GT-7 in 1982
and GT-14 in 1989, co-hosted one GT (the combined MG
GT-21 in 1996), and a number of Regional Meets.
The membership of the Hoosier A’s
varies between 40 to 60 members. The club, in association with the
other 2 Indiana MG Clubs, tries to have one event per month
during the driving season - mostly involving
driving tours featuring stops at historic, scenic, or other generally
fun and interesting places. The one constant is the annual Club
Birthday Party, a pot luck dinner held in mid November and
featuring either a fund raising auction or gift exchange.
